Virtual Worlds/Web Integration: Rise of the 3D-Web? @ Virtual Worlds London 2008

We put together a panel about the 3D Web and the virtual worlds-web integration for the upcoming Virtual Worlds London conference, 20-21 Oct.

We will be joined by: Linden Lab, VastPark, Weblin, Kzero, Rivers Run Red.

Here’s how it reads at the moment:

“Virtual Worlds have not only generated a new communication environment, more notably they are radically reshaping the way we think and use the 2D web. As virtual worlds embrace typical web2.0 tools like social networking, social ranking and search technologies to complement their users immersive experience, at the same time the web is embracing more and more presence-based communication with synchronous real-time interaction and 3D interfaces. This panel will look at the growing intertwining between virtual worlds and the web which might lead, according to many, to a 3D Web, an evolution of the web as we know it today, where web pages are empowered with immersive, presence-based features and virtual worlds become more and more part of a global network of online spaces.”
