Virtual worlds cartographies: why we need open-standards. Part 2

Cartography has been a well established activity among several generations of virtual worlds users.
    When non provided […]

Virtual worlds cartographies: why we need open-standards. Part 1

    2 Comments Share it

Rather than claiming the necessity of avatar portability, I think we should look at more humble but still ambitious and unsolved problem: the definition of a common language for mapping virtual spaces and universally referencing places and objects located within them. In other terms: How could I pretend to teleport my avatar and its entire inventory of scripted objects from one world to an other, if, at date, I can’t neither reference places or objects across worlds?

Why Virtual Worlds Are Overtaking the Game Industry

    0 Comment Share it

The bar for online gaming has been raised, with community becoming as important as gameplay. Virtual worlds and Web 2.0 habits are driving users to worlds that support socializing instead of questing and user-created content instead of magic. World of Warcraft may have nine million subscribers, but Habbo Hotel has 7.5 million users per month, […]
